Recap of the final day of Dragonsteel Nexus 2024

What a rush. I’m actually writing this end cap from home, the day after the final day. Saturday was a blur. I attended the most amazing Cosmere Studies 401 panel, and wrapped up my Story Deck. Once the afternoon rolled around my social battery was in the negative, so I went back to my hotel room and relaxed and read. For me that was the perfect ending to an amazing week.

I want to thank all the amazing folks I met during Nexus - some of you have subscribed so I hope you’ll see this. You all made the week for me. I have a wonderful group of Cosmere nerds at home that I get to talk to everyday, but had no one coming out to Nexus. You all made me feel welcome in ways I wasn’t expecting. Thank you.

This leads me to my final thoughts on Nexus…

Should you attend Dragonsteel Nexus 2025?

Yes. Absolutely.

Next year is going to feature ‘Tailored Realities’, a series of short stories and novellas not set in the Cosmere. Now, the hype around this year’s Nexus was in large part due to it being a “Stormlight year”, but I don’t think that’s what made the event special. Nexus is a celebration of all of Brandon’s works, and next year won’t be any different.

Walking around Nexus 2024, you could see Mistborn, Secret Project, and Skyward cosplay, exhibitors, and the like - each year isn’t bound to just to the book on feature. In fact, the only Wind and Truth bits were getting my number and picking up the book.

If you love Cosmere and want to share that passion with great people, Nexus is the place to do that. Don’t worry about planning the perfect year with your favorite book, in fact, choosing a non-Cosmere year might make it more accessible.

I have to be a bit choosy about where I invest in my travel, so I may not be there in 2025, but I am going to try.

This is my second to last bit of Nexus 2024 content, still to come is my breakdown of everything we learned about the Cosmere RPG. I will be putting that together some time this week, maybe even tomorrow.

After that its back to basics. I won't be writing about Wind and Truth any time soonish. That might be a few weeks, it could be more. I will mark each with heavy spoiler tags once I do.
