Recap from day -1 of Dragonsteel Nexus 2024
Today was my first full day in Salt Lake City for Dragonsteel Nexus! It's been an amazing experience thus far, and I wanted to share the highlights with you all!
Meeting awesome people
I've been connected with so many great people already - either running in to them in the hotel lobby or in line for a book number, it's been fun talking lore, theories, and Cosmere RPG.
Also, the great people over at NerdForge was on my flight from Logan, and I got to say hi, which was awesome. Check out their channel if you haven't heard of them before, its great stuff.
Meeting Brandon Sanderson
I got a brief moment with Brandon! He came did a walk-through on the line to get a book number, and he stopped by my spot to chat with some people. We had a brief exchange as well and I'm still starstruck. That is not me in the picture by the way, I am taking the picture.
Finally launching my YouTube channel
Part of my original vision for Invested in the Cosmere was a YouTube lore channel and today I published my first video.
It's a little more slap dash than what I want from future videos, but the its all about taking the next step.
Getting my numbered copy number
There was a to get your numbered copy number (not the book itself, just the number) that started at 4 am on Tuesday morning. Wild. The fans set up a system where pins with a number were distributed to lightly "hold" your spot in line. This allowed for folks to grab a spot, then move out and enjoy the day.
I had an early spot and managed to grab book number 102! I am thrilled.
The line was probably the best part of the day, I spent about four hours in total talking lore, meeting new people, meeting Brandon FREAKING Sanderson, and people watching. A great to start to what will be a great conference.
More to come, no spoilers
I will not be spoiling any Wind and Truth content this week. I am not 100% sure when I'll start publishing Wind and Truth content, but it will be heavily marked with spoilers for those who want to avoid it.
Someone in the hotel lobby had a copy of the book and held it up for me but did so exposing the last couple of pages. I had to dodge to avoid seeing the art on that page.
